more colors of the night paintings

the original drawing "colors of the night" was done 2007 with pens on paper. Now I made another version using a print of the older one as background. The painting was done with acrylic colors, gel pens and ink pens. Other materials: layers of epoxy resin, embossed aluminum and colored aluminum

About

I discovered acrylic paint for myself in 2007. Before this I used oil colors and watercolors, sometimes combined with gel pens and ink pens. I paint on paper, canvas and since 2009 on wood panel.

Since Winter 2010 I use metals and gems on paintings.
In summer 2010 I made my first epoxy painting.

In fall 2012 I started experimenting with various kinds of inks.

In April 2013 I started making digital mandalas

In summer 2013 I began making paintings from digitally rendered fractals

In summer 2014 I started making mixed methods paintings:
acrylic paintings made from prints of digital paintings which were made from photos of ice cubes, inks, water , oil and soap.

In October 2015 I started making large format mixed media paintings: acrylic, pens, inks, crushed stones, sand, iron ore, on canvas and MDF board

In December 2015 I started making digital paintings based on photos which show structures - technique similar to frottage and grattage ("imprints of nature")

In summer 2017 I started working on a series of paintings called "metamorphoses".
The process includes collecting and handling sand and mud from ice age moraines in southwest Germany.
The resulting earth pigments are then used in most of the paintings, together with acrylic colors, inks, pens, varnish and watercolors.
Experimenting with various materials and techniques is an essential part of the concept, as well as exploring the sites of the ice age moraines (a video from summer 2017, showing the sites of the moraines, is on youtube at

In 2019 I started using watercolors again after a pause of about 12 years.
In spring 2019 I started making my own watercolors. I make them from commercial available pigments as well as from pigments I make myself.
I am experimenting with colors made from various kinds of Iron Ore I collected around my hometwon.
